Do you dream of soft, absorbent, fast drying and lightweight towels? Our Shinto towels are made in Japan to the highest standard and can be used for bathing, beach, in the kitchen, as a blanket, or even for travel as a wrap/shawl.

Over one hundred years of knowledge and technical experience goes into creating the Shinto towels. Traditional shuttle looms are expertly operated by hand, producing baby-soft 2.5 ply gauze that is layered to create fluffy yet light towels. Once the towels are made they are put through a post-weave refining process - known as atozarashi - that removes starch, oils and other impurities making the towels more absorbent while preserving the fluffy texture.

Caring for your Shinto towels:
In order to maintain the softness and absorbency of your towels please follow the instructions below.

Avoid rough surfaces to minimise pulling or catches in the material
Do not use chlorine bleach
Separate lights from darks when washing
Avoid using softeners as they may reduce absorbency and damage fibres
Handle wet towels gently - do not wring or pull which may result in gaps in the weave
Do not tumble dry, for best results washed towels should be hung in the shade to dry
